Staff Review: Rabbit Running Apparel
by Anna Guzman, SB Campbell's AGM
Getting in good training days is always a challenge when juggling work, doggy parenting and trying to have somewhat of a social life. One of the biggest factors that has really helped me in my previous season and this year so far is the gear I use. Triathlon is my primary sport, so that means many, many different outfits for bike, run and swim. I have plenty of favorites for each sport, but for my runs the brand that keeps rising to the top is my Rabbit apparel. For such a relatively new brand in this market, they have really stood out in my experience. They're also a local brand from California, and that makes me feel that much better about supporting them.
I don't know if I can think of a running race in the last three years that I haven't worn some Rabbit apparel. My favorite tops for racing are the Crop Hop or Bunny Hop Tank. These tops are breathable, comfortable and flattering to wear, which we all know is super important. Bottoms of choice for race day would be the Speed Leggy 2.5' or 4'. Both these options have side pockets for gels or anything you may want for a training run or race day. A big selling point for me his that that they do not ride up like other tighter short options do. I am a runner who drenches themselves in water no matter if it's 40 degrees or 90 degrees outside. With wet clothes, you run into the issue of chafing for a lot of outfits. I have not had this issue with any of these combos above. Full disclosure, I do use a little bit of body glide, but very minimal. This past Boston Marathon, it rained the first eight miles of the race. I was more drenched than ever before for any marathon and I had absolutely no issue with irritation anywhere.
For training days, I love the EZ Perf SS Trail in warm weather and EZ Tee LS for the early morning winter runs. There are so many other shorts and tanks by Rabbit that are in my regular rotation for speed days, tempo stuff, and easy aerobic work. I definitely recommend the brand to anyone who hasn't tried them because I truly feel that this apparel has been better than anything I’ve used before! When it comes down to performance, the gear you wear is key. It has to be reliable and comfortable to help you get through both those easy and hard days in order to keep you going, and Rabbit does the job in so many ways. I can’t wait to stock up on their new Summer apparel line!
