Yuta's Guide to Swim Goggle Shopping

Goggle shopping can be a daunting task. Step into a swim shop and you’ll find dozens of different shapes, colors, and styles - all with slightly different uses and customers in mind. Luckily we’ve partnered with Speedo to help demystify the world of the swim goggle.

The first thing you should know is that all Speedo goggles come with an anti-fog layer straight from the factory. So no need to worry about that pesky condensation ruining your ability to see. The second thing to be aware of is every model of goggle can come with a variety of lens colors. These are simply for different sun and light conditions. Swimming when it’s bright out? Go for a dark or mirrored lens. Are you swimming at night? I’d opt for a clear color. Is your pool indoors? Maybe a light blue or amber color. And third, Speedo goggles block harmful UV rays from hitting those precious eyes.

SPEEDO HYDRO COMFORT

Speedo nailed it when they named this one. The Hydro Comfort comes with two separate lenses that are a bit larger than a traditional goggle. A bigger shape means the lens sits on the cheekbone and eyebrow instead of the fleshy parts around the eye. This is teamed with a thick silicone gasket for supreme levels of comfort.

It comes with a flexible unibody design which means the Hydro Comfort has the ability to fit the contours of your face. If goggles could fit like a glove this would be it.

SPEEDO SPEED SOCKET 2.0

Sometimes it's fun to use the same equipment the pro’s use. This is the case of the Speedo Speed Socket 2.0. Olympic medalists Caleb Dressel, Regen Smith, and Michael Phelps all wore them to victory on multiple occasions.

The Speed Socket 2.0s come equipped with sleek, low profile lenses that rest flush with the contours of the face and do not protrude outward. They also have a unique curvature that gives the swimmer a wide peripheral view of the pool - perfect for keeping your competitors in sight. And if the goggles don’t fit quite right you can swap out the nose pieces to really dial everything in. While you may not be using them to win olympic gold, the Speed Socket 2.0 will definitely give you an edge the next time you race your friends at a meet or at practice.

SPEEDO PROVIEW MASK

The ProView Mask is Speedo’s answer to the “Over The Brow” goggle.Typically goggles have two separate and independent lenses. With this bad boy Speedo dropped the traditional goggle shape and created a goggle that is more in-line with a snorkel mask.

The advantage: way better suction. The ProView Mask has a truly insane ability to adhere to any face shape and size. So if you’ve ever had issues with leaky goggles this is the one for you. It also features a quick lock strap which lets you easily set the perfect tightness.

SPEEDO VANQUISHER 2.0

The Speedo Vanquisher 2.0 debuted in the early 2000s. It was a confusing time. Selfie sticks were everywhere, Lil’ John dominated the radio, and reality shows were the only thing you could watch on TV. One shining light from that era was, and clearly still is, the Vanquisher 2.0.

The lenses and gaskets sit comfortably and securely within the eye socket for exceptional comfort. Speedo also designed the lens with peripheral vision in mind. The sides of the Vanquisher 2.0 have small viewports that allow for a wide panoramic view. That way you can keep a watchful eye on the people you're swimming against. The Vanquisher 2.0 also comes in a variety of fun and attractive colors to match any and all personalities. If a goggle could win an MVP award, this would be it.
