Propagating Celery On Your Windowsill

1. Cut off the end of the celery: about 2 inches off the root end.

Keep those fresh stalks in a glass or jar of water, cut side down, and place in the refrigerator like fresh-cut flowers. They will stay fresh and crisp for 1-2 weeks.

2. Place the root end in a shallow bowl or ramekin of water and place on a windowsill that gets a fair amount of sunlight.

3. Watch it grow! After a few days, you’ll start seeing small stems emerging from the center.

4. After 4 weeks, those stems will turn into leafy stalks and you can start breaking
away the old stalks from the root end.

5. After 3 months, the renewed root base is ready to be replanted.

6. Replant in soil.
