Works!!
I tried the carback but had trouble with it so I returned it. Ended up getting the Garmin and it works good. I use it around my neighborhood route. It does such a good job.
"Unbelievably good"
Recipient loves this thing. Says it is even better than expected. Works great with his Garmin.

Intuitive and errs on the safe side (will tell you cars are closer than they actually are). A little tough to set up and to turn on but once you're riding, they're great.
Great Addition to the bike

This thing is a literal life saver. Warns you of anything approaching behind you up to 200m, way more than I expected. As for battery life, it's lasted me for 4-6 hours between charges, as claimed, but definitely depends on the mode you're using, which I haven't played with much yet. Overall a great product if you already have a bike computer to connect it to!

It may save your life one day
You need something like the edge 1040, 840, 540 or any edge that is supported to make use of it. It has a little line on the right side showing you cars that are approaching you. You can watch the dot as it gets closer to you in real time.
Don't leave home without it!
I live in a rural area and ride mostly on county roads. This is a safety must. It works perfectly, just know it's limitations, alerting me of traffic approaching from behind. It has its own Varia app but also integrates flawlessly with "ride with gps" app on my iPhone. I highly recommend it.
Eyes on Six
This is a game changer. Since I got it I have a peace of mind. For busier road sections just mute the alert. Once in the open country with little to no traffic, unmute it and enjoy the ride. No longer do I have to crane my neck to see who's around including the sneaky EVs. While not a replacement for safe cycling practice it is an added layer of safe cycling practice it works as advertised. My only gripe is the mount and I do believe marvelous team at Trek can come up with a mount solution because with the rubber band mount system may become compromised or even give way especially if traversing rough section. Like a prior reviewer here 6/5 for the Varia but 4/5 for the mount.
