Great Product but………
I have used the Varia system for years and decided to upgrade to the RCT 715. Only issue i had and had to return the unit to Garmin that they promptly acted on was memory card upgrade.
Radar works exceptionally well
The Varia lets you know when cars approach from behind. It's particularly good when you're going quickly enough that wind noise prevents you from easily hearing them, and when cars are coming the other direction, as the engine noise from cars on one side can mask the cars coming from the other side. It works extremely well, getting confused only when making sharp turns from one road to another, or when riding parallel with a highway, as happens a couple places on my regulars routes. I am colorblind and had initial concerns that the UI for the Varia, which relies on part on an iconic roadway that switches from green to red to indicate danger, might be lost on me. This was no problem; even without seeing the color I could easily follow the signals about whether or not there were cars coming. The camera worked in my initial testing but I've ignore it since then. I imagine it's doing what I've asked of it — recording images of cars as they approach and pass me from behind.
