Excellent support, traction, and stability
I run on single track in the Ventura County area (Gridley, Sisar, Los Robles, Saddle-Pass, Syamore, etc). I am older and my joints are in bad shape. I upgraded to these from SG 5 (low not mid). With some preliminary miles on these shoes, I am VERY happy. No reduction in the awesome traction (Saddl...

Would try another shoe model
Several things 1. Shoes look great. 2. Need wider options. Even unlacing laces does not loosen up the tight grip of the top of the shoe. 3. The extended flap to cover your socks is a good idea but if you at anytime struggle to put your foot in , you can push the heel tab downwards which will the...

Just why?
I love the previous versions and I just don't understand this one. There is no ankle support like the previous ones. Please bring the old ones back. I tried to like these but too unstable ankles and would cause an injury. Had to return them.

The run-friendly collar is designed to enhance movement and elevate flexibility, but we understand if it's not quite right for you. For a more cushioned, supportive feel, we recommend taking the Stinson 7 for a spin: bit.ly/HOKA30Day. This ultra-cushioned game changer offers extra padding around the ankle and underfoot, which may be more your speed.
Toe pincher
I have friends that swear by Hoka so I decided to give them a try. They appear to be very well made. Since I ordered them online, my first time trying them on was at home. I suffer from neuroma between my toes. These shoes immediately aggravated it. Sad to say they are not for me. I wish they made a wide toe barefoot style of shoe. I would recommend them to s friend with the narrow toe caveat.
Not as good as the Speedgoat GTX mid 2
My 4th pair of Hoka amd my second pair of Speedgoat mid GTX. It offers only cosmetic support beyond the low top as all they did was stitch a sock on top of that shoe. The stitching has already started to fail before I got to 25 miles in them. My previous pair, Speedgoat GTX mid 2, didnt start to fail until over 1500 miles. I do not have confidence that this shoe will last mearly as long as my previous pair.
Bring back the old speedgoat
I had 4 pairs of the old speedgoat, bought my partner a couple pairs we've loved them. Bought the new design and am going to be wearing my altras from now on. Will be back when the old Mid design comes back!

Just the right trail shoe for me
I wanted a trail shoe with just a little more ankle protection, but not stiff and heavy like a boot. This shoe is just right and keeps all the gravel out. I'm on a kickbike scooter out on dirt and hilly trails. That extra wrapper on the ankle is one more thing between me and an accidental strike against the scooter while kicking. Thanks.
Does not provide ankle support.
The "mid-rise" of the 6 is but a mud-flap for your ankles. Will provide no additional ankle support unlike the much missed 5. You may as well buy the standard Speedgoat with this version.

Bring back the old Speed Goat!!!
Dont fix what aint broke. This is not a 'mid shoe' it just has a waterproof(ish) gasket on the top that provides no real ankle support and makes the shoe harder to put on. I have had 7 pairs of speed goats since the speed goat 3, but these are not the way forward in my opinion, the biggest bummer is the old speed goats are not super rare.

Bring Back Speedgoat Mid Design!
Have loved Hoka for years and have several models. For a lightweight trail shoe the Speedgoat is the gold standard, especially for a retired Army infantryman with years of joint abuse and prone to ankle instability and overpronation. However, the 6 model's new cuff on the upper is not as stable due to it being sans laces and the cuff tends to roll while putting the shoe on. As always, I wish the Speedgoat came in wide. If you want some good advice, search the web & snatch up a Speedgoat 5 Mid before they are gone until Hoka fixes this design flaw.

Difficult to get on
Once on, they're fine but they are very difficult to get on.

Official Response by HOKA ONE ONE
We were confident you would love this new iteration, but if you are struggling to put them on that is a non-starter. Our recommendation is for the Speedgoat 6 GTX that has a more streamlined silhouette and has all the benefits of the mid style you currently have. You have our 30-day guarantee to send your pair back for a simple exchange. For more information about the process, click here: bit.ly/HOKAEXRT.
