This product will buy you 3" but you need double that if you own a Trek Xcaliber 8 29er. Such a shame I had to literally buy it to find out. Oh well life goes on.

I purchased the Thule RideAlong Lite for my toddler. When I tried to install it on my mountain bike (trek with 29" tires), it rubbed against my back tire. The description of this part is not good, but it does raise the RideAlong Lite another 3-4" above the tire and solved the problem. This part should come standard with the RideAlong.

Most bikes don't need this adapter but if you do it's great. It feels very safe and secure.
