Just OK
These were a warranty replacement for fork mounted racks that let one bike topple on top of a panoramic roof at 70 mph. These racks work but for my mt. bike i have discovered if you do not use a bungee to hold the from wheel straight it becomes difficult if not impossible to mount the bike properly....

Solid product
Works great, fit great on an off brand rail system. The instructions could have been more descriptive, but they worked. Definitely quality. I recommend locks unless you plan to take it off all the time.
To infinity and beyond…
This is my second ProRide XT. Easily transports my wife's hybrid and my gravel bike securely and safely. And the same key system keeps things simple.
Love this rack!
I've had this for a couple of years and it's the second one I've bought because I sold the first with my previous car. No removal of wheel required, not too many parts, the clamp is solid, and easy to put the bike in and off and I especially love the simple locking system.
Beware of parking on uneven ground
On my first time out with this rack I parked on uneven ground as is often encountered at trailheads. Wile unloading the bike was uneventful, loading the bike was another matter. The tire mount/straps are too narrow and the front wheel of the mountain bike kept turning and climbing over it as I tried to load it. The tire mounts are also too loose and slide much too easily. The front strap slid forward and exited the rail causing the bike to fall onto the roof of my car and a pedal to get jammed under the bike rack. Also, the rear buckle strap popped out causing the rear tire mount to come off. Looking at all of the lightweight plastic parts and how they are just snapped together makes me question the longevity of this rack. I have a medium frame mountain bike with standard tires. This is unsatisfactory. I never dropped a bicycle while loading my 80s vintage Yakima bike rack. Unfortunately, the Yakima bike rack will not fit on the Thule bars. I will now have to use duct tape on my brand new Thule bike rack to prevent the tire mounts from sliding around and the end caps from flying off.
Installation is a Nightmare
The installation is a nightmare. The instructions were probably designed by genius engineer during the dark days of winter. Some YouTube videos are a great help. Thule sent one of the wrong parts. I know everybody loves their Thule racks, but this has been time consuming, inconvenient…a real struggle for me. .
Broken in box from Thule
Box was delivered to our front porch with one end completely ripped open. Looks like contents were just shoved in. The wheel strap is cracked. Not sure if this was a broken item returned to Thule. Our local bike shop we have/had used for 15 years could not order from their distributor as fast as we could from the Thule website they told us. Would have much rather have purchased from our shop where I would have known we were getting a new item in good shape... Primarily we were moving out of state that week and taking the bikes with us via the car rather than the movers, so used the rack as did not have time to return and get a different one, but had to rig additional support. Rack is still broken.
difficult to load and unload
I have successfully used older style Thule roof rack for years. Previously, tires sit in a groove the mounting the bike is stable with this design. This style is rack is a dangerous adventure loading and unloading. Neither tire is secure and the clamp is constantly jamming with the crank or frame. Have not figured any safe method to either load or unload bikes. Do not recommend.
Poor Design and Low Quality
I must say that my experience with the Thule ProRide XT has been very disappointing. Here are the major issues I encountered: Poor design: The clamp system, supposed to accommodate all types of bike frames, falls short in effectiveness. I found that for certain specific frames, the clamp didn't secure properly, making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to install the bike. It's incredibly frustrating not being able to use the bike rack as intended. Difficulty in solo bike installation: Contrary to the manufacturer's claims, loading and securing a bike onto the rack alone is very challenging. The holding system is not ergonomic and doesn't facilitate the task. It often requires a second person to hold the bike while you try to secure it properly. Low quality: I was disappointed by the overall quality of the product. After just a few months of use, I had to replace one of the attachments due to a failure. Furthermore, the attachments tend to loosen easily, which doesn't ensure optimal bike security during transportation. Overall, the Thule ProRide XT did not meet my expectations. The flawed design, difficulty in solo installation, and low-quality attachments make it a product that I absolutely do not recommend.
Outstanding! Exactly what I was hoping for
I've been using my ProRide XT for a couple of months now and love it. It was very easy to install on the rack and it is perfectly designed and quality manufactured. It is everything you hope for and Thule delivered. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking to free up space on their back end and it is a game changer for me by allowing full access to my hatch without the hassle of dealing with a rack there.
