no frills, just function

If you had to design the most basic nut tool and keep it functional and cheap, this would be it. Yes, others have candy apple red bells, but I actually prefer this one. Does its job and gives you options as to how you want to attach it.

Round the Edge

This is the only piece of BD equipment I complain about. The sharp edges on the handle make it hard on the hands when prying, pounding, and cussing to remove stuck gear, especially when striking with the heal of the hand. Keep the bottle opener and price point :-)

Good, Could have some improvements

The nut tool is does the job well. However, The black finish does not match (nit picking) with the rest of the chrome finished gear black diamond offers. The bottle opener is a neat idea. The nut tool would be more beneficial if there was a way to connect the tool to a gear sling. I had to purchase a small piece of webbing and another biner in order to secrue it to my second. Other than the finish, the harsh edges, and the lack of a lanyard, it is a solid piece of gear.

Seems solid, and works as described. The bottle opener feature is a bonus.

Mandatory, Minimalist and Effective

As a wise old goat once said to me (in somewhat cruder terms), "Never mind the Second; Set the pro." A nut tool is a mandatory part of the trad rack, because you can't always count on your Second having one, but you can count on jamming a nut on any trad pitch. A nut tool would have to be perfectly magical to get an "Excellent" rating from me, and the only way to get to "magical" is for the nut tool to pull impossibly stuck gear without me actually having to do anything to make it so. At "Good," this is the best nut tool that i've ever owned. Yeah, it could have a groovy clippy thing to fasten it to my harness or rack, but then it wouldn't cost $9.95. At that price point, I can drop this thing off a high cliff, never to be found (by me), and i won't cry. And the bottle opener feature ... that's a key feature for this climber, because it means that the designers are thinking holistically, like the rest of us rogues.

Good nut tool but it's rather heavy and mine rusted after about a year.
