Good Emergency Option
These tablets had no impact on the taste of the water I purified in China. The water was not bad looking, but I just wanted to make sure. These tablets are easy to use with the lighted water bottle LLBean sells. You toss a pill into 1 liter of water, it starts to fizz, put the cap on, and wait 4 ho...

Smart, useful gift for hikers
This was a Christmas gift for my son and daughter-in-law, avid hikers and backpackers. They were surprised and seemed pleased to have these tablets as backup emergency for filtering water on upcoming hikes. I read all the good reviews and thought these tablets would be something they would like to have.

Excellent Product, Excellent Price
Katadyn Micropur Tablets are great. I always take them on backpacking and hiking trips - even when I have a filter so I have a reliable backup for safe water. Easy to carry and use. Best price on the internet!
Katadyn tablets
Forced to use these this past week on the very dry Mass. stretch of the A.T. and They worked great. No bad taste, and no ill feelings after drinking water. I let them work for about two hours, and that seemed to do the job. Happy Backpacking!
Katadyn Micropur Purification Tablets, 30-Pack
These tablets were a big help on my recent trip to Mt. Katahdin in Maine. I brought them as a fallback, but it turned out that there was no water available at any point on the mountain except for the streams. We realized pretty quickly that our water was insufficient and the tablets cleaned the stream water that saved us from dehydration, or worse. Small, portable, easy to use, and completely tasteless!
Micropur Purification Tablets
We used Micropur Purification Tablets during our 7 days Kilimanjaro climb. None of our 7 team members have any water related problem or illness. These worked well as described
Great Service
I purchased this for my bug-out bag. I haven't used it yet, but I purchased it based on other reviews and the extended shelf-life. Of course, purchasing from LL Bean is always a treat because of the wonderful service.
read the instructions
I carry these individually sealed tablets as my backup water purification source. These tablets are very effective when used as directed but there always seems to be some misunderstanding among my backpacking friends. How long? Thirty minutes or four hours? Depends on what you're trying to kill! Four hours is most effective. One important thing to note is that the foil wrapping is NOT waterproof. After several days of rain on the AT, a hiker who used these as her primary water purification source discovered that her whole supply was soggy and waterlogged, rendering them completely useless. She had to borrow other hikers' pumps and UV wands until we got to a resupply stop three days later. She was lucky there were other people around; you don't want these to fail when you're in a remote location.
portable, and a long shelf life
These tablets are packaged so they can be separated and carried in any quantity, (in individual foil packets), . Also they have a long shelf life and can be stored in a wallet or pocket. Useful to disinfect water for any purpose - washing, brushing teeth etc.
Good Emergency Option
These tablets had no impact on the taste of the water I purified in China. The water was not bad looking, but I just wanted to make sure. These tablets are easy to use with the lighted water bottle LLBean sells. You toss a pill into 1 liter of water, it starts to fizz, put the cap on, and wait 4 hours. If the water looks bad, I'd suggest shaking the bottle a few times during the wait. As a long time traveler to remote places I would NOT recommend these tablets in the hands of unsure grown-ups or kids. The warning on the label about their toxicity to eyes needs to be heeded. The foil wrapper should be cut open with care and the tablet not handled with fingers if possible. I really like these tablets because I have had foreign diseases from bad water. Giardia is nothing to mess with. I highly recommend these tablets to confidently trained outdoors types and travelers to remote areas. Clean water sure can keep you from becoming bed ridden and taking CIPRO! Read the directions several times and understand what you need to do. Also, just before drinking slightly open the cap to your bottle enough to allow water to splash out, shake the bottle lightly to "clean" the drinking surface, and then drink. People forget that unclean water may be on the threads of the bottle. Believe me. After you get sick a few times in remote areas, you'll love these pills.
