Fits and functional, but instructions severely lacking

The instructions were almost worse than not having any, in that items are labeled "optional" that I can't imagine how the rack would support any load without using. The images that showed which bolts and washers went where were the only useful part. But if you have some mechanical aptitude with how parts should work together and look at a few online photos of installed racks of any similar style, you will be able to get it installed. Once installed, it seems sturdy and up to the task of holding what I need to strap to it. Haven't tried any MTX accessories yet, so will reserve comment on that until I get firsthand experience.
Poor design

I bought this for my new Trek 5 after seeing it was compatible. Instructions are horrible and the design is just simply cheesy. It works so I'll keep it but pretty disappointing from Trek.
