The best Garmin Edge
I bought this 840 to replace my 530. I loved my 530, but my battery would die on my 100 mile Century rides. This started after I had paired it with the Garmin Rally XC200 pedals. I knew the 840 had a better battery and I was tempted to get the solar model. I'm happy to report that it was fine after ...

Quirky
I've only had this a few weeks but I find it really quirky. To be more clear, it's as if it was designed by a team but no one on the team ever talked to anyone else on the team. The user interface is inconsistent - the menu icon pops up in different places as does the "check mark" and "X" for acce...

Comments about One / One Size
As a cycling enthusiast, I owned an Edge 1000 for years and while it was still functional, it felt dated even then. I'm glad Garmin decided to finally improve on their dinosaur products given the competition. This size is just right and the usability has improved greatly. Still $ but think they're worth it.
User Friendly
I have had my 840 for the last month and use it every day. Easy to read, simple to se and I love the touch screen. If you try it, I am sure you will love it, as I do.
Long lasting
Upgraded my Garmin do to old one wouldn't last long on my riding. Easy to transfer my old settings to the new one. I can riding all day not have to worry about losing my status
Loving it so far
Little bit of a learning curve going from wahoo but once I figured it out I've loved it, connects with my wahoo watch for heart rate and battery life is awesome, loaded with features I'm sure I haven't even tapped the surface of yet too.
Edge 840
Have had for couple weeks, not sure yet have had a couple issues, climb pro stayed on too long, and heart rate would not connect, my 1000 was flawless?
So far....too complex
I'm admittedly poor at figuring these sort of devices but even allowing for this the device is so complicated. I just wish there was a simple way of doing less - routes, turn by turn and recorded rides. That's it!
Unnecessarily Poor Interface and Integration
I am highly technologically comfortable. I own an EpixPro, GPSMap Mini, GPSMAP 66i, an Index BPM and Index S2 and use most every day. While the Garmin Universe is poorly organized on the best of days, the 840 has been the most frustrating. I'm going to try it for a few more rides and if it continues to be problematic I will return it.
Very nice
Way more than I need but quality for sure. Mapping great, longevity great, ease if use great
Not user friendly.
Need to include instructions. Can't find user manual on Garmin website either.
Everything you need in a bike computer
I bought this as an upgrade from my 520 Plus. I've only used it for a few rides but I am very impressed so far. I had the 820 but didn't like it so much because of the lack of buttons. I like that this has both buttons and touch screen. (Most of my rides throughout the year require warm gloves.) Connectivity to my phone and sensors has been smooth. I would recommend this to others.
