Comments about Blue / One Size
This water reservoir fits perfectly in my Dakine backpack for hiking and skiing. The hose will freeze on a particularly cold day, otherwise frequent sips will keep you hydrated and the hose clear.
Great bladder
Just what I was looking for to hike Yosemite during surging high temps
Fantastic product
At the suggestion of my daughter, I purchased this product for my inaugural hiking trip. I also followed the direction of others and made sure to fill it with warm water and 1T baking soda to remove any plastic taste. There was no strange taste and I really enjoyed not having to constantly find a water bottle in my bag. I could not have been happier and would definitely recommend this product to others.
Supports ammunition sales and mass shootings
Sold by Vista Outdoors, manufacturer of several ammunition brands. A portion of your purchase will go to fighting gun regulations and lobbying against protection of federal lands. Holds water. Smells bad.
Awful Taste
I purchased this for use with the Upland Vest Pack and the fit and functionality are great... I have no issues there. But if CamelBak's goal was to make a bladder that dispenses the worst tasting water of all time, then they've surpassed all of my expectations. I cannot get the strong vinyl/plastic taste out of this thing even after repeated flushing of the bladder and tube. Pretty disappointing.
Excellent Reservior
Fits easily into my daypack, no leakage, seems well made
very happy with this
So much easier that stopping to unload and reload a water bottle from back pack! Did not notice any plastic taste; very easy to use; no leaks
Near Perfect Design Water Reservoir
Frequent hikers on long challenging trails know this system but I was new to it. In February, 2017, I planned a rather strenuous hiking adventure with my son in the Tonto National Forest followed with a hike in Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. We had an older system from another manufacturer for a backpack reservoir that had a small fill opening and no swivel valve to shut off the drink tube--it was a bother to fill and hard to clean. It also would drip from the drink tube mouthpiece. The CamelBak solves all these problems with its wide mouth fill and nice shut off valve. The tube attaches to the bag via a type of quick connect and when assembled never leaked. It even has a "handle" to hold the bag while filling it. The fill opening was large enough to drop in ice cubes--a really nice indulgence. The 2 liter size was perfect for our first 15 mile trek through the mountains and was more than enough for the 8 mile trek on the high desert floor. Granted the temperature hovered around 50 degrees so I did not need to drink the full 2 liter volume--but the water was there if I needed it. The reservoir fit neatly in one of the many large pocket sections of my 30 liter size backpack and the drink tube exited out the corner of the closed zippered compartment and then over my shoulder. My pack did not have a dedicated section designed for a reservoir nor a flap opening for the tube but I had no trouble finding a useful "home" for the CamelBak in the pack. The CamelBak tube could use an additional clip to attach it to a D-ring or carbineer that would secure it to the front of the pack shoulder strap (so I scavenged one from my old system that had one). Here is what I would suggest: Buy a larger reservoir than you think you will need--you can always under-fill it. After filling it, I put mine in a stuff sack that I insulated with tiny bubble-rap. It cushions the hard plastic of the fill opening and keeps the water cooler longer. It also catches any condensation that forms and drips from the cold bag. I also only partially filled the bag with water and put in ice cubes for each long day hike--the water was delightfully cool even at the end of the hike--8 hours later. The system is very efficient for drinking and permits taking a drink at any moment thus avoiding early dehydration. With a little modification, this system worked perfectly. I was delighted with this product.
