As bright as my 45 year old, single mantle, Colman white gas lantern (which still works perfectly). And it can be turned down, doesn't get hot and is instant on. A bit pricy, but you get what your neighbor's vote for. Now, if they could just dump the awful latch and go back to the old style latches on their ice chests...

Mainly have on hand for power outages, but would be good in the attic or dark garage.Lots of light and very light to carry. I'd recommend it.

We researched several websites looking for rechargeable LED lanterns. The Coleman Classic Recharge 800L Lantern was the brightest of those in the lumens range we were looking for. It is very well constructed, but even better than the classic Coleman gas lantern we have owned for years.

I love the classic design combine with today's high-tech lighting. The ladder is substantial, unlike many others on the market so far very happy with it though I haven't tried camping yet.
