Some great improvements from the 1st gen.
I am a correctional officer and I prefer to wear hiking boots at my job over tactical boots/boots in general. The cushion and support of hiking boots helps out with the long hours of being on my feet. I had the first gen before getting these ones and I enjoyed them. I had a few minor flaws to them...

Worst Shoes I Have Ever Worn
I cannot express how uncomfortable these shoes are. I am a mailman with a recent back surgery and a walking route of about 11 miles with a lot of hills in the PNW - so waterproof, comfortable, and durable shoes are essential in performing my daily duties. I was so excited when I purchased these beca...

Not waterproof at all!
This shoe did wonderfully as a hiker until things got wet. I spent a week with wet feet in the PNW. The grip and comfort of the shoe are fantastic. Unfortunately I would not buy this again because of the lack of breathability of the GTX combined with the lack of waterproofness, also the shoe felt narrow and would benefit from added space in the toebox as well.

Great Hiking in NZ
Just got back from a three week trip to New Zealand. Before going I (over)researched hiking boots. I settled on these over Merrells and Salamons because the fit was the best. I wear 9 1/2 wide in Hoka Clifton 9s. Best fit on the Anacapa 2 mid GTX was 10 regular. Turned out to be way better than I hoped. We didn't do the Great Hikes, but did do a good amount of moderate hiking in warm, cool, wet and dry weather. Plenty of uneven trails and rocks, up mountainsides and to get to waterfalls. I wore Wigwam Merino Silk Hiker socks with the Anacapas. Great traction, feet were always comfortable, never got noticeably warm or cold. In fact I rarely thought about my feet-lungs yes, feet no. I am a casual hiker, I don't do miles and miles, week after week, but for a good amount of moderate hiking, these are a winner. Also I have to note, the thing that sticks up on the back of the boot for your Achilles heel. When I bought the boots, I thought this was gimmicky. It's not. It makes a significant difference in keeping your foot in the shoe firmly, properly, and comfortably. Will see what Hoka's got in a couple of years when I go back to NZ for Great Hikes.
Great boot, need Wide sizes stocked
I love this boot, have worn it daily as a courier for nearly a year now. My only criticism is that the Hoka website offers this boot in wide sizing infrequently. I check every day to see if they've restocked. I would love to see the Kaha available in wide as well.
Comfortable hiking boot

I was looking for a comfortable waterproof hikiing boot. Most of the other waterproof hiking boots hurt my toes. This one doesn't
Most comfortable shoe/boot on the market!
I have loved this shoe ever since the original Anacapa. This is now my third pair and my first two are still worn frequently. Great for trail running, traction in snow, and also as an everyday wear. No signs of wear and tear on any of my pairs and they are extremely comfortable, waterproof, and warm. I highly recommend as an everyday shoe, and as an outdoor enthusiast who uses these shoes to workout in during tough outdoor conditions.
Great Shoes
Just received my pair today and have been walking around in them. Immediate thoughts: 1) Look great, can wear almost anywhere 2) Very comfortable and great support 3) Appear to be well built
Super comfortable, but broke in less than 2 months
I loved the look and comfort of these. The soles are super grippy and comfortable. However, in just over a month one of the open eyelets for the laces pulled out of the leather. Disappointing that they broke so quickly!
Waterproof and comfortable!
Just took them on a 3 mile hike in 3 - 4" of fresh snow. Nice and dry on the inside and comfortable too.
I would definitely buy this again
Great shoes, amazing for walking and puts up with weather,
Digs into ankle bone
Quality boot but for some reason, there is a stitch point inside the right boot that digs into my ankle bone. It's only on the right foot. I bought the same pair before and had the same issue so I returned them thinking maybe it was a defect in that boot only but nope, happened on second pair too. Super disappointing because other than that it seems to be a great boot.
