Don't let the looks fool you, this shoe can do more
I am 60 years old and have Morton's Neuroma in my left foot. I needed a pair of shoes that could be used for everyday walking and could serve as hiking shoes. For more than two weeks, I walked on uneven cobblestone roads in Europe. The Anacapas were stable and cushioned enough that the cobble sto...

Good hiker with a flaw
Ok first off let me say ive had these since October 2024 trying to see if I wear them more they will break in(or actually if this horrible sound will stop). waterproof?
I've had 2 pairs of these. The first ones had visible Gore-tex and are waterproof. The current ones say Gore-tex but are NOT waterproof by any measure.
Disappointed
Definitely disappointed with the sneakers. The color on the website is different from the real item. The sneakers I got showed a darker olive color on the website and what I received was close to a shade between light blue and green. I wish you would allow people to add attachments here then I could show the difference. These are my first pairs of Hokas and I am definitely disappointed.
HOKA does not stand behind their products
I purchased a pair of Anacapa 2 Low GTX about 7 months ago. I used them only to walk my dog when it was cold and wet out. I probably wore them 60 times total. The fabric in both the heel cups has torn and HOKA will not replace them. Poor product and worse customer service.

Official Response by HOKA ONE ONE
When your pair doesn't hold up as expected, we know it is frustrating as our goal is for you to fly for miles. Due to many varied factors such as terrain, frequency of wear and natural elements, some pairs may wear quicker than others. Although we do cover manufacturing and material defects, normal wear and tear is not covered under our warranty. Unfortunately, we are not able to override the warranty department's decision. Great shoe with a big flaw
These shoes are very comfortable. However I don't use them but very seldomly because of a major flaw. There is a clicking sound at every step. This is very annoying when trying to enjoy nature while hiking. This disturbs the peace so much that I will not wear them with anyone else and if I had anything else or the money to get a different shoe I would. I figured they just needed broken in but after a long time and admittedly not many miles due to them being so annoying to wear the sound just never went away. Its just a shame that a shoe so great can be so annoying that it makes me never use it. Im supposed to be enjoying nature while hiking not listening to my shoes.

Official Response by HOKA ONE ONE
We agree that you should be able to enjoy nature and it's upsetting to learn about your experience. We do have our one-year warranty available on our products that covers defective material and manufacturing. We recommend sending your pair with proof of purchase for an evaluation by our warranty team. For more information about what is covered, click here: bit.ly/HOKAWty.
Good hiker with a flaw
Ok first off let me say ive had these since October 2024 trying to see if I wear them more they will break in(or actually if this horrible sound will stop). They are the typical Hoka goodness other than 1 what I will deem a flaw I cant overlook..(neither can anyone around me apparently) I will explain in a bit. First of all they have been comfortable, they are GTX/waterproof ive tested that several times, the grip is good when out light hiking. So with all the typicals youd like for a light hiker Comfort, Stability, Grip, Waterproof they are fine. I rate them a 5 for all that. They have the typical Hoka look(think soles) so normal also. 1 flaw I found would stop me from recommending or buying them again. these are the only hokas ive ever had in GTX that make a clod hopping, popping sound when walking.. its almost like walking in galoshes/rubber boots or something every step is a sound that sounds like a popping sound.. Ive determined somehow this is the goretex bootie somehow making the noise,, and its noisy as in my wife can tell when i have these on and are walking. when I first got them people when I was in a store would look at me and my shoes. this noise I was hoping once they had a few miles into them would maybe go away and "break in" nope, just as loud and clod-hoppy sounding as the day I got them. Its now Jan 2025 and ive relegated these to walking(alone) ONLY as the only way to salvage them as being useful yet not embarrassing in public. so they are now my walking/ hiking alone shoes when im doing that. in every other respect they are great. the noise is loud and embarrassing enough I wont wear them anywhere but walking/hiking ALONE.. I dont know if they are all like this as its the first time for Anacapa2's for me. and my last also. I can say 99% of all my Hokas are GTX and Speed goat/Challenger DONT do this. run 1/2 size big
Too big
I've been a big fan of Hoka shoes for a while now, and I was excited to try the Anacapa 2 Low GTX. Normally, I wear a size 11.5, but I found that the Anacapa 2 was a bit too big for my foot. The Anacapa 2 Low GTX just wasn't the right fit for me. The sizing felt off, with too much room in the toe box and the heel area. This made the shoe feel loose, affecting its overall performance and comfort on my foot. While I still love the brand and the technology they offer, this particular model didn't quite match up to my expectations.

Enjoy walking with these shoes.
The Anacapas were stable and cushioned enough that the cobble stones didn't bother my foot after many miles of walking each day. The vibratim soles offered sufficient grip on the wet road too. The next trial was a 5 mile hike with a 2000ft elevation gain over very irregular terriain with large rocks, puddles and 3 inches of slushy snow. The Gortex outer kept my feet dry and the stiff soles maintained stability on both steep uphill and downhill pitches. I had my doubts that this shoe would hold up so well on this hike and was thrilled when the shoes proved me wrong. The stable yet cushioned soles kept the nerve in my foot from flaring up so I was able to entire all of the long hikes and walks. I will echo some of the other comments about running large. Normally I would wear a size 10 and would get 2E width for added room in the toebox. (I had to returen the 10 2Es for a 9.5 which worked great). After one month of use including mud and plenty of irregular surfaces, the shoes still look brand new.
Comfortable shoe but awful durability - avoid
After extensive research, I bought these shoes for travelling South America, for casual wear and day hikes. After about 5 weeks they began wearing out in the heel dip, and have drastically degraded since, to the point where the plastic is showing through the padding. Reading the reviews, I'm clearly not alone. I've had to ditch them and buy another pair of shoes (as have many other travellers I've met out here who owned hokas). Sadly Hoka won't offer a refund and I have no way of posting them back to the UK in an affordable manner.
they break apart
I am a physician and Had the pair for close to 2 years now. very comfortable and pretty. I ve wore as a daily hospital-walking shoe for maybe 20-30 times in 2 years. both shoes developed a tear on the edge of the fabric the same spot bilaterally. clearly a defect. I was not expecting such fragility from a GoreTex shoe.

We wholeheartedly understand your frustration and assure you that providing long-lasting performance and comfort is our priority. However, though we stand by each pair with a one-year warranty: bit.ly/HOKAWty, our shoes do not have an estimated mileage. There are just too many varying factors that can contribute to the way each model wears, but we encourage you to always take advantage of the warranty as soon as defects arise so we can evaluate and ensure you get the quality you deserve.
