Solid!
Some of my MSR fuel bottles that I still use are first generation, some are new-ish. The fact is that these bottles are tough yet are lightweight. I have one bottle that has a pretty nifty dent in it from accidentally getting too close to the crampons in my backpack and years later the bottle is sti...

CAP NOT as pictured
STOP THE WORLD! The CAP IS BAD> Fuel Bottle is fine, but it's the CAP that is a concern. First, the photo shows the old style normal cap, the preferred cap. The bottle is sent with the new Child Proof CAP, not good. Very difficult to remove if the fuel bottle becomes pressurized, (altitude, heats up...

Great product
Great quality product and great price. Honestly it was slightly cheaper than online and name brand I could trust.
indestructible
I have the older version of this bottle with the easy-off cap. I love it! My bottle is more than ten years old and still going strong despite multiple dings that were completely my fault. I still have the original rubber gasket on the cap and it looks good as new. This bottle is literally indestructible. At 20oz it's too large for short trips but there are smaller sizes available. I like the red color which makes it easy to identify as fuel.
MRS Fuel Bottle is for emergencies
This is actually my second MSR fuel bottle. I fill and carry this with me for long rides on my Piaggio MP3. If the trip is longer than 50 miles one way, I carry it with me. If an emergency happens and I run out of fuel, this should be enough to get me to a gas station. My only issue with this product is that over time, my first bottle became extremely difficult to open, but I had it 5yrs before this happened. This is why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. I would definitely recommend this product.
Very difficult to remove if the fuel bottle becomes pressurized, (altitude, heats up in the sun, etc.) The required method of push down and twist is difficult, and I have serious concerns with the safety feature leading to stripped out teeth inside the cap and not being able to open/close the bottle. Give us some credit to keep our fuel safe from drinking. Do you really think the bureaucrats who came up with this "improvement" spend any time "out there". Give us the normal cap with this, Or, offer the replacement cap as an additional item in the catalog. Love MSR stoves and LL Bean. Just thought you would want to know.
Awful cap
Bought two, and one of the safety caps will not open after fewer than a half dozen uses. I simply cannot open the cap. Do not buy this product!
Changed cap style
My old MSR fuel bottle had the cap in the picture...i.e just a simple screw on cap with no "safety" feature. The new bottles have a "child safe" cap similar to OTC meds, and it is not as pictured. It stinks. It's hard to engage and you get the vibe that one day the mechanism in the cap will either strip out or not engage enough to loosen a cap that has been tightly installed. I'm sure MSR went to the new style due to some liability concern, but as usual, the "improved" part is not as good as the old one, which worked perfectly. Boo! Make sure your product pictures match the merchandise, please.
