It's all about the comfortable non binding last
2nd pair for me. The last is roomy up front for my wide fore foot with normal heel. Not Topo athletic wide but close enough. Notice the straight side for big toe, squarish toe box. Pretty unique, like Hanwag SF Extra and Meindl comfort lasts but I find these even more comfortable. Round toe box equ...

Disappointing
I was a huge fan of the arrowwoods Teva used to make up until they changed the design or materials a few years ago and they became very uncomfortable. I was hoping the Riva was a course correction back to the tried and true design. Pros:. Lightweight, seems sturdy, doesn't hurt my feet like the A...

Teva boot problem (offset by supportive SB sales staff!)

Comments about BRN-Brown / 9
Initially had high hopes for this boot but after a couple of days of easy hiking I experienced blisters on ankles due to protruding sewing "nubs" that attach the inner boot liner to the boot. Whether this was due to a sewing error or design flaw is hard to tell. I did report the problem to SB shoe sales staff and was offered a refund which I promptly spent on a pair of Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid GTX boots that I'm happy to report are both easier to put on, lace up, and comfortable to walk in even on rough terrain.
A struggle to put on
I returned these boots after trying to put them on my feet. The attached tongue combined with the lacing system makes it impossible to put the shoe on without unlacing at least half the boot. Perhaps a lacing system that does not use a closed grommet would allow the foot to slip into the boot behind the connected tongue.

We appreciate you giving this style a try and sad to know you struggled to put them on. You should have a pair that not only meets but exceeds your expectations, and we're glad you were able to get them back to us. We recommend the Auroris boot which has Speedhooks and D Rings for quick, lock down lacing for easy on and off. It's engineered with a TevaRAPID PROOF waterproof bootie and enlists a MAX-COMF insole for step-in comfort with a White Spider Rubber sole to outlast the slushiest of days.
Round toe box equals pain for me. These are relatively light, classic build, good sole. I use for fall/winter/spring general purpose and light cool weather hikes. Work nicely with Meindl comfort insoles. But the issues are real, tough to get on. Gets easier with a little break in and pulling laces out of tongue hold strap and angling foot in. Quick lacing eyelets sure would have helped. Pull on straps did rip heel stitching. Don't overtighten laces. Definitely improvement with break in. That may be too fussy for others. But I'll take the fuss for the true to size comfort fit.
Good walking boot.
It is absolutely wonderful. Once on I can wear them for hours without a problem. I have an ankle problem, and both legs are weak. That is why I bought the bot rather than to the shoe, The additional support is great. They are not really easy to either put on or take off. I have learned how to do that without too much of a problem.
closed lace loops up top really kill this boot for me
Bought these to replace my beloved arrowood rivas. Alas, while the fit is the same and they look to be the same blend of lightness and support, having fully closed loops up top mean they're way too difficult to get in and out of. Really bummed as I wanted to like them, but man what a poor product decision

I would highly recommend it's comfortableness and support
From the first test hike about 5 miles instant comfort felt like a broken shoe. Great support without any pinched to the ankles . Will be interested in seeing how they track over the next year.
They're ok.
I had a pair of Riva's about 15 years ago and loved them, I wore them out after about 5 years of hiking and travel, and ever since I've been trying to find another good pair but none have been as good as the old ones. I ordered both Rivas and Ridgeviews and the Rivas seemed like the best for trails and hiking, Ridgeview seemed like more of a city/street boot. I'm going to keep the Riva's and return the Ridgeviews. But I might keep looking, I think there are better boots in the same price range... Which is too bad because I loved my old Riva's... A very annoying thing about both these boots is that have all eyelets for lacing up, NO HOOKS, and it makes putting them on and taking them off unnecessarily difficult. Seems like a very poor design choice.
Awesome boots, just not my fit.
Boots were made great, but 5 stars is for the customer service. I will try another boot from Teva.
Shrunk with Time
When I purchased these boots about a year ago, I was extemely pleased with their comfort and design. I kept them in my car to throw on whenever I went out for a hike. Unfortunatley, the changes in temperature shrunk them to a point where I can barely squeeze my feet in. When I do get them on, I end up with huge heel blisters within an hour of wearing them. I've tried putting them in front of heaters and stuffing them with tennis balls to expand them but have had no luck. Would suggest ordering a half size up if you live somewhere with cold winters!
