Mafate Speed 4 is a game changer
I've been a pavement pounder for most of my life but the mountains started calling a handful of years ago. I've tried various trail shoes and they've done the job & done it well, but none of them had me this excited. I signed up for a few longer races this year that had pretty significant vert gai...

Severe Knee Pain and Disappointing Customer Service
These Hoka shoes caused incredible knee pain, the worst I have experienced in years. The pain was extreme and lasted for days after wearing them just once, leaving me frustrated and upset. I wanted these shoes to work out because I need dependable footwear that won't aggravate my existing knee issue...

Great trail shoe
Love it. Fits well, great balance of cushion and reactive. Solid traction even in the slick.
No I would not puri again
I ran a race this weekend an unfortunately we feet are destroyed. I have areas where I lost skin from the rubbing , it wasn't the socks because I used trail toes and the injini socks .. the blisters I have are so unbearable I can barely walk.

Official Response by HOKA ONE ONE
We get it. Blisters are painful and not something you should experience. Blisters are typically a sign of an incorrect fit or model for your needs. You may consider stopping by your local retailer to get professionally fit in a size and style that should have you breaking records. You always have 30-days through our guarantee bit.ly/HOKA30Day to see if a style is right for you.
very grippy, fun colors
Took these running up a dry rocky mountain trail. They did great. Toe protection did its job, no break in needed. Love the color selection available compared to Speedgoat. True to size, I wear a women's size 6.5 normal width and that fit just right.
Best Trail Shoe Ever
I have been running trails for the past 15 years, but I upped my mileage to include ultra distances this past year. Then came the dreaded blisters and hot spots. I was fitted for the Mafate, and I couldn't be happier. It has a perfect amount of cushion and tread for mountain terrain. No blisters or hot spots with my last 50K. Best decision ever!
I Would recommend this style
Sleek and vibrant colors. Many compliments. Fits well. I work long hours and it support my feet well during my shift.
A great running shoe
I purchased this shoe for trail running but with the snow up here in Leadville I haven't been able to yet. Have ran on packed snow, ice, slush and some dry roads and i like the feel of the Mafate Speed 4. I felt like I had a great grip for the conditions and was very comfortable. Can't wait to bring on the trail running season and see what this shoe really has to offer.
Jury is still out on this pair…
I'm comparing these to several Hoka Speedgoat 5's that I've walked multiple Caminos with in Spain - usually more than 500 miles over a month of walking every day. I'm considering trying a different shoe on my next walk, and thought I'd try these out as they were on sale, and I'm having a hard time finding the Speedgoat 5 in my area, in a color that isn't over the top garish. The first thing I've noticed is that they are considerably wider than the Speedgoat - so much so that I'd probably purchase my usual shoe size if I were to use them on a Camino (I always order up a half size when buying a trainer for my walks). Second thing I've noticed is that they don't have the spring a Speedgoat does, which I wasn't surprised about - but I did expect them to have just a bit more cushioning in them than they do. I'll probably end up buying whatever color I can find in the Speedgoat 5's and just live with it - I don't like the Speedgoat 6 at all, so I'm going to have to just buy up all the Speedgoat 5's I can find to prepare for future walks! Please note, I don't run in these - it's strictly walking on various surfaces over long distances - runners will probably have an entirely different take on the shoe than I would!
I love these shoes
I was ready to buy a new pair of Hoka sneakers and was eyeing these because I love the colors and had such great success with my first pair. Then my Dr. walked in wearing these ands I knew it was the right choice. I'm not a runner. I walk my dogs 3+ miles a day. In an older gal with knee and sometimes hip issues. An athletic coworker told me about this brand when I asked her thoughts on foot wear. It's a done deal. Hoka for me all the way.
