New fleet arrivals
We're always looking to provide you with the very best gear at the very best rental prices. We believe that everyone should have access to gear that can help them fall in love with the outdoors! This season, some of the new items you can look forward to renting include:
- Premium snow apparel options from Helly Hansen
- Premium snow boots from Columbia
- Premium all mountain and freeride snowboards from Jones
We've also updated a lot of our existing fleet, so grab your season leases now and enjoy the latest and greatest all season long. There's more news to come on this front, so stay tuned!
Free pickup and return days
You may or may not have already known this, but it's worth reiterating: when you rent from Sports Basement, your pickup and return days are free! F-R-E-E. We know it's tough to travel to and from the mountains, and we just don't think you ought to pay extra for those transport days. And yeah, that's on top of our already-lengthy rental durations. So you can book a 4-day "weekend" rental picking up on a Friday and not have to return your gear until Wednesday.
It gets better: we work hard to prep your rentals even farther in advance if we can! When we do, we'll text you to let you know that your gear can be picked up early. So that "weekend" rental you booked? You might be able to pick it all up on Wednesday, and it still doesn't need to be back until the next Wednesday. That's a full week of rental gear for the price of a weekend. You deserve it.

layering up for winter
Layering well is the secret to staying comfy in winter: warm on the lift, cool while you’re cruising. If you’re skiing or snowboarding, you’re balancing both at once (the ultimate paradox!). So what do you wear? It depends - but no worries: our snow expert and Berkeley Soft Goods Manager, Andy Dischekenyan, has you covered with his best layering tips.

From skis and snowboards to helmets and baselayers, there’s a sweet spot for every piece of gear that’ll keep you comfy, warm, and ready to shred. Whether you’re checking your ski length by your chin, dialing in the perfect boot fit, or making sure your helmet doesn’t wobble when you shake your head, our handy sizing guide breaks it all down so you can spend less time guessing and more time riding.
