The BEST Hiking Shoes for All Terrains
The Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid GTX is by far the best pair of hiking shoes I ever own. I have to give it 5 stars although the sizing is a bit weird. I wear 6.5 for Nike, NB, Vans, Asics, etc but I bought 5.5 for this pair, as many previous reviews said the size was big. Size 5.5 fits really well for me a...

An expensive mistake - unwearable.
I bought a pair of these boots late last year and within a few weeks they were leaking at the toe crease. However, the customer service department were fine about sending a voucher for a replacement pair. So, I was forced to buy another pair of Salomons and went for the same boots in half a size sma...

Not waterproof!
I was disappointed by the quality. I am hiking in Scotland right now and I got wet feet after 2hours hike. My previous pair was keeping me dry for the whole day.
Salomon Hiking Shoes: Comfort and Durability
these shoes are crafted with precision and quality materials
Nice for about 1 year of daily use
Comfortable out of the box, waterproof, no blisters or rubbing, stay tied, I really enjoyed these up until a couple of weeks ago they started leaking from the top material, I used them daily 2-3 hours a day for almost a year so I am happy with that, giving 4 stars since they did start leaking on the top mesh material. Plan to buy another type of Salomon boots to try next. I did like these better than the 3 version.
GREAT!!!
Bought this pair and then decided that I also needed the X Ultra ClimaSalomon Waterproof. Go figure. My excuse was that the X Ultra 4 Mid Gore-Tex was for rainy day, the ClimaSalomon for sunny day. I never regretted buying it. Love the color. Boots are so comfortable, even at first hiking, fits wonderful. Did not have any issues. And I never had doubts. Thank you Salomon for a wonderful product!
Miss the old X Ultras
The X Ultra Mid was my go-to hiking boot for ages, but these were a disappointment. They feel narrower in the toe box, the materials don't feel as high quality, and the design is unappealing to me. I especially dislike the women's color choices - I wish shoe manufacturers would realize many women like the same bold, bright colors they offer for men - not lighter, softer versions with pastel accents. The insoles still feel nice and cushy like the originals, though. I might have kept them if they'd had more room in the toe box.
Didn't love it
I returned this item. It was uncomfortable right out of the box.
Lovely boots - settling in
Loved these boots straight away - light yet sturdy and so far still waterproof. Only slight glitch which is why they are not 5 stars is that they are painful on tge top of my foot where the boot bends. I'm hoping it will soften as I wear them more - otherwise v happy
Great for minimal use, bad for actual hiking
I have been travelling South America for 8 months now and have completed over 70 hikes/treks with these boots. Good points - they're extremely comfortable and require minimal breaking in (if any). The grip with the sole is very good and the flexibility in the boot allows me to hop around mountains easily. Bad points - the manufacturing is terrible. After just 3 months of wear, the seams were compromised by the creasing in the toe of the boot. Eventually this meant that the stitching came undone and holes formed on each side of the crease, meaning they were no longer waterproof. I received a new pair as compensation and noticed immediately the stitching on the upper inside was already coming apart before I'd even worn them. I've worn this new pair for around 10 hikes now and can see the creasing issue looks like it'll be a problem again a few months down the line. I'll update with progress. Overall - I'd recommend these for light hiking use (i.e. if you only go on a few gentle hikes a year) or if you want a pair of waterproof dog walking boots. I wouldn't recommend these for regular mountain use. They simply don't hold up to the strain like other sturdier boots as the integrity of the boot has been compromised for flexibility.
FAVORITE SHOES!!
I am happy to say that this is my second pair of Salomon hiking shoes. Well, first pair of high top. I always buy Salomon shoes because I know it will always perform. Never considered purchasing a high top in the past until now. Very comfortable. Went hiking on a very wet and windy weekend and the boots kept my feet dry and warm. Even after a 5 mile hike, my feet wasn't even tired, so, thank you Salomon for a GREAT pair of hiking boots!!!
Fabulous, sturdy and comfy
As others have noted, these boots are a dream. Weatherproof, sure footed tread, secure footwell. Very pleased having worn them for hours and not a blister or rubbed area. I had previously bought 8s to accommodate thick socks but the 71/2 in this design works so much better- with all thicknesses.
