I recently upgraded all of my alpine draws to make them more user friendly. I had some smaller carabiners that were a bit lighter but they didn't have the snag free HoodWire. Some of my clients found my older FS mini carabiners were too small to manage with cold hands or gloves. The new Oz is much easier to use in cold temps and making clips is a breeze. I love these awesome biners. By the way, I had a bunch of the older model Oz carabiners as well but the addition of the HoodWire is a great boon to reduce snags but also to drastically reduce (or possibly eliminate) the potential for the nose to hang on bolt hangers. Overall, a great light functional piece of kit!

I love the Oz. It's lightweight, so it doesn't weigh you down. It's narrow so it doesn't take up too much space on your gear loops It has hoodwire technology so it doesn't snag when you need it NOW! It's full size, so you don't fumble around with it like an idiot. Every single new carabiner that I buy is an Oz. I absolutely love them for all of the reasons that I listed. I can't think of a single negative on these carabiners. I thought long and hard about whether I would convert my rack to these or the Camp Photon, and I chose this one because it is slightly smaller (though slightly heavier) and has the hoodwire technology.

These are great for the rope-end of draws and racking gear - anywhere that you want to eliminate snags. The gate action feels great and the rope slides in and out like a hot knife through butter!
