Alpenglow250
So just got both of my new Alpenglow250's! The first worked amazing and did every thing advertised. The second for some reason couldn't cycle:( customer service was SUPER FREAKING FAST after I brought the issue up. I actually got to talk to a live person and show the issue I was having. This is a party light
A bit disappointed with this one. When I saw "candle Flicker" mode in the description I thought I'd give it a try. Getting to the "flicker mode" was a bit frustrating for me. Having to "shake" it to reach that function made me very nervous (I'm "old school" shaking things was always a No,No). Pressi...

Worked great
Used as main night light source on camping trip to Voyageurs National Park. Worked great. Used for 4 nights without having to recharge
Light up your night life!😂😁
I was looking for a solar panel for this summer to add to my teaching kit for the wilderness kayak courses I do for the Ontario Sea Kayak Center. I used the panel first on my weekend courses and then the wilderness courses. Hands down both the Solarpanel 5+ and Alpen Glow have become an essential part of my kit. Over the course of my six day trips in the middle of Georgian Bay they were vital to my comfort and security, especially the Solarpanel 5+. It is super easy to use and the most reliable panel I have ever used. The Alpen Glow was the perfect light for my tent and the variety of settings allowed me to have a little fun around tha camp as well (the multiple colour lights I call PARTY MODE). Truly great equipment that you can COUNT on.
Mostly works, overall a great purchase!
Picked this up recently for a camping trip and have really loved it. The 'shake' feature definitely doesn't work on the unit I have which a bit disappointing because I was excited about the color changing but overall it's a handy little light. Glad I picked it up.
Great little light!
Cleaner, easier, and more flexible than candle lantern, smaller and lighter than my old LED lantern. It's great to toss into my pack for almost any outdoor activity. We also use it around the house when a bit of candle-like light is needed. We love this thing!
Disappointed
I bought this to replace the biolight powerlight mini that we've had for several years and which we loved! It was small, portable, and light weight and provided lots of light - great for traveling and backpacking. Biolite recommended that I replace it with the AlpenGlow 250 - which is much larger, bulkier, and has unnecessary frills like changing light colours. While my kids love the changing light colours, it is a very disappointing replacement - we'll take this car camping but it's too big to take traveling/backpacking and it doesn't serve the same multiple functions as the mini light which you could clip onto your pocket, bike, or backpack etc. I'd rather have one small light that I can use for everything vs a larger light that I'll only use for car camping.
Great Light! Horrible Charging Cord Interface!
Micro-USB is a bad engineering idea. It should have been USB-C. Micro-USB only plugs in one direction, and even when I get it the correct way, it will hardly go in. I have to jostle it over and over and now the cord has disconnected within the sheathing, which is still intact. I love this light! But I won't buy another until BioLite changes the charging cord interface to USB-C.
Great little light
This is such a fun and useful little light. I bought it for camping, but I keep finding new ways to use it around the house. And it's surprisingly bright for the size!
Would be perfect if it's USB-C
Handy little lantern for both home use and backcountry. It doubles as a portable charger for short weekend trips as well. The only thing I don't like is it's not USB-C, I hate to need to have a micro USB cable just for this.
