Good cable, needs new lock instructions.
I mainly bought this one for the cable which has a good size both in terms of length and size of the loops. I bought it to use to lock my bag better during backpacking commutes or if I want to put it in a luggage storing place. For this, it is a good buy. People need to be aware of the reset instructions for the lock to put in your own combination. On the instructions it says turn the lock handle to 6 o clock, push it down and afterwards move it to the 3 o clock position. If you push the handle down gently you can get to the 3 o clock but it does not do anything. Instead if you push it down as you should the handle only moves to the 5 o clock position, this position is the one you need to be able to get a new combination code. Because the instructions on how to make a new combination on the lock is garbage, I will have to take away one star. PS: Tips for eagle creek is the option to buy the cable only.
A must when travelling out of country
This is a very well built lock . Having the cable is very useful when travelling in a place where you are not sure about safety. Used this when we went to Europe while in a train were you dont have to worry about your luggage being taken by someone . We just secured our luggages together in a bar in the train #sweepstakes
Cable is a waste of money
I bought the Eagle Creek Rolling backpack and this new cable & lock at the same time on the recommendation of the sales clerk as a great way to ensure the day pack can be locked together without using numerous locks or a mesh sack. The concept is great, except for the cables do not fit through any of the zipper pull holes. I had to leave it at home and could have saved money by just buying a lock or 2. And, the store would not take it back because I did not have the packaging. I love Eagle Creek products and have many, but this was upsetting.
