Nearly perfect...
This is a nice fitting shoe—first, the good stuff. The shoe fits my foot well. I have an average width, but I wear custom footbeds. Everything seems to work well together. I have found some shoes have a shallow heel, and custom footbeds don't quite fit, but that is not the case with the Tectons X2. ...

Limited application
This is an early review. I'm finding myself really wanting to love the Tecton x2 but can't find the reasons. Great design, materials, and assembly. But too limited an application for my purposes — running, hiking, scrambling in the Wasatch in the range of 6-12 miles. The front 2/3rd of the upper ...

Too Tight compared to Tecton X
I have owned about six pair of Tecton X shoes. I bought Tecton X2s hoping for a similar fit. Unfortunately these shoes are too narrow. They are uncomfortable compared to Tecton X. Too tight in the toe box. I returned them. Hopefully they will either make a wide version of Tecton X3s and beyond or at least make them more like the Tecton X.

It's a great shoe for East Coast trail running.
I like the snappiness of the carbon plate. And the cushioning is pretty much perfect for responsiveness and softness.
Great Shoe—Too Bad HOKA Is Discontinuing
Love this shoe, but HOKA isn't making it anymore. Does HOKA make a shoe that fits and feels like this one?
There's quite a lot to praise.
I needed a shoe with a generous toe box for the trail and also a stiff sole in the toe area so that my toes don't roll so much. These shoes fit the bill. I'm very happy with him and they're surprisingly light...they're VERY light. The sole is wide and stable. I had a pair of orthotic inserts custom made for my trail shows yhat were very pricey, but I find that with these shoes I don't need the custom orthotics. So the high price tag turns out to be pretty cheap. For me.
Hoka Nailed It!
I've been looking for a true trail shoe that also feels fast for either speed work or race day and I finally found it! I enjoyed the original Tecton X but found the upper was a bit loose and allowed my foot too much movement. The X2 upper is amazing and absolutely solved that problem! Well done Hoka! The Tecton X2 has definitely become my go-to when I want to pick up the pace on the trails.
Liked it so much, bought a second pair as backup
I rotate two pairs of shoes for my daily run. I recently picked up a pair of the Tectonic X 2 to replace a failed experiment with a Topo. Absolutely the best shoe I've had in the past 5 years (trail shoes as off pavement running is 75% of my miles). It really did encourage me to run faster and my average pace is quicker wearing this shoe. I picked up a second pair as the price was good and since they're being replaced. That pair will get placed into my shoe rotation when the current Hoka Speedgoat gets worn out.
Great product and very helpful staff

Really nice shoes
Great traction shoes nice fit good reaction I would buy these again for sure
Absolutely phenomenal shoes for the right terrain & runner
These are my absolute favorite shoes for fast efforts on terrain ranging from fire roads to single track to mildly (mildly!) technical trails. They've propelled me to PRs on every segment that falls within the right range of terrain and grade. They're great on all uphill segments, and good on everything but the steepest downhills. I am generally a size 10 or 10.5 depending on the company. More often, a 10 is a good fit. For these shoes, 10.5 was the right choice! It's an absolutely perfect fit, with a little bit of room in the forefoot but a secure lockdown in the midfoot and heel. So if you're between sizes, size up! They're incredible shoes for running fast on buffed trails, and an absolute blast to run in. But a word of warning if you are taking these shoes out on more technical terrain - the propulsion that the carbon plates offers also makes these shoes a little bit dangerous to run in if you aren't laser-focused. It's very possible to step incorrectly on a rock or root, get flung to the side, and sprain an ankle. If you are going to take these out on more technical, rocky ground, stay focused on your every footfall! Or, better yet, save these for the terrain they're best at, and grab some more appropriate shoes for real mountain running.
