Soccer Drills to Practice at Home

Our team sports buyer Patrick Tebow is showing you how to keep your condition for soccer season with these at home drills.

Introduction

Juggling - practice makes perfect!  I like to set a touch minimum to help stay motivated.  - ie…50 touches for each body part (each foot, each knee, and your head) - Start with one touch and catch the ball to get a feel for the right part of the foot to use and how much power to use to keep the ball under control.

Juggling

Toe taps - touch the top of the ball with one foot, jump and switch feet. The goal is to have ‘soft feet’ so the ball doesn’t move.  Go for time or reps...your choice.

Toe Taps

Variation - Lateral toe tap to mix up the muscle groups.

Inside touches - tap the ball rapidly between each foot.  Similar to toe taps, the goal is to have ‘soft feet’ to keep the ball under control. Go for time or reps...your choice.

Inside Touches

Variations - add a lateral roll over and continue with inside touches, perform while moving forward or backward while keeping the ball under control.

Figure 8 dribbling - dribble around each cone in a figure 8 pattern. Keep the ball close to your body and under control. Go for time or reps...your choice.

Figure 8 around two cones

Figure 8 Dribble

Variations - only use left foot, only use right foot, only use inside of feet, only use outside of feet.

Cone Zig Zag Dribbling - dribble in and out of the cones in a zigzag pattern. Go for time or reps...your choice.

Variations - only use left foot, only use right foot, only use inside of feet, only use outside of feet.

Thanks for these drills! As active grandparents, we are providing Physical Education for our grandchildren’s distance learning 2 times each week. They are 8 and 6 years in one family, and 2.5 yrs in other family. These will be a great help and catalyst for more fun, learning activities! Be well, stay safe and enjoy that adorable that little guy in your life!
