how to trade in

Trade-ins couldn't be easier. Just fill out our 30-second form, bring in your pre-loved equipment, apparel, footwear, basically anything that isn't safety equipment or next-to-skin items, and we'll give you store credit for everything we can! Trading out last year's gear for the next step up? Why not help the Earth a bit while you're at it? Save your gear from landfills and earn up to double the average valuation for your used gear when you trade in with SB Pre-Loved! Here's what's earning "extra credit" right now:

Team sports equipment (baseball, soccer, football, volleyball, etc)
Tennis, pickleball & racquet equipment
Camping equipment (tents, sleeping bags, packs, stoves, etc)
Shoes and boots of all types, for kids and adults

1. Fill it up

Stash the gear you're passing along in any bag or box. Make sure each item meets our quality standards and is something that SB has sold in the past. Check out our trade-in requirements here!

2. Bring it in

We accept gear at all of our Sports Basement locations! Fill out the trade-in form and then drop off your gear at the front register or at the Pre-Loved kiosk. You'll receive an email confirmation with your trade-in number in about a day.

3. Get credit

Once your gear has been evaluated by our expert processors, we'll send you a Sports Basement gift card in 5-7 days that you can use in-store or online. Any gear we do not accept will be donated locally or recycled.

SB Always Keeps It Green

Sports Basement Pre-loved is only the latest program in our long history of sustainability and equity. Our values reflect the Bay Area's values: we want to help everyone get outside and we want to protect the Earth while we're at it.

Used gear is a win-win: buying used extends a garment's life by about two years, which cuts its combined carbon, water and waste footprint by 82% (Thred Up). In addition, used gear makes it more affordable for more Bay Area dwellers to gear up and get outside.
